In-School-Youth Program

Funded by the Department of Youth & Community Development

The In-School Youth program (ISY) is an after-school program that provides a wide range of services to high school juniors and seniors. The program engages the participants in activities that combine academic remediation, college and career exploration, as well as life skills instruction. The program emphasizes the relationship between school subjects and future careers. All activities are designed to help improve the students’ vocational, career direction and attitudes toward school. Each participant receives a stipend during the school year and has the option of participating in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) during the summer.

Romy Delerme has been the Director of the In-School-Youth (ISY) program for the past two years. She was the Director of the Progressive Adolescent Vocational Exploration (PAVE) program for thirteen years. She is currently enrolled in a graduate education program. Her goal is to continue to serve the young adults of the North Queens community, to provide them with the basic skills that will enable them to realize their academic and career goals.

Please, come in and speak to any of our staff and take advantage of one or more of the many services we offer.
